GROOMED TRAILS
in Garnsey and Kinns Parks
Shenendehowa Nordic Club grooms trails (weather permitting) for classic and skate skiing at Garnsey Park and Kinns Road Park! Grooming is per agreement with Town of Clifton Park.
Garnsey Park
1481 NYS-146, Rexford, NY 12148
The park offers over 150 acres of rolling meadows, wooded ridgeline, and a two miles of nature trails in western Clifton Park. The easy-going, mowed trails through the grassy meadows are family-friendly and ideal for cross country skiing, snowshoeing, walking, running and mountain biking.
Shen Nordic grooms a three-mile lightly trafficked route that is good for all skill levels. The ungroomed woods trail is worth the extra effort to reach for a totally different experience. There are two small ponds located on site, as well as open meadow wetlands. Dogs are also able to use this park but must be kept on leash.

Kinns Road Park
625 Kinns Rd, Clifton Park, NY 12065
The park is about 64 acres of forest with another 32 acres of adjoining lands in Clifton Park, which offers beautiful wooded trails used by cross country skiers, snowshoers, walkers, mountain bikers and orienteers.
Shen Nordic grooms a three-mile moderately trafficked route that is good for all skill levels, but be careful as there are two short, steep hills. This is a dog-friendly park, but all dogs must have a current permit. A stream is located south of the park on an ungroomed trail that leads to Sherwood Forest.

Lessons for Adults and Kids
Ok, maybe you’re not a kid anymore, but The Town of Clifton Park offers ski lessons by one of our own fully certified Shenendehowa Nordic ski coaches most any Thursday evening when snow conditions are favorable. Introductory lessons are just $4 for club members and $12, if you’re not a club member. Contact Eric Hamilton or the Parks and Recreation office at 518-371-6667.
You can also learn to ski by taking a lesson or two at one of the great local touring centers in the area. Lapland Lake in Northville (www.laplandlake.com), Garnet Hill Lodge in North River (www.garnet-hill.com), and Mt. Van Hoevenberg (www.mtvanhoevenberg.com) in Lake Placid are great skis centers, which do a fabulous job with trail grooming and offer fully certified ski instructors.
Cascade (www.cascadeski.com) in Lake Placid and Pineridge (www.pineridgexc.com), east of Troy, also offer groomed trails and lessons on appointment. Osceola Tug Hill (www.uxcski.com), northwest of Utica, offers groomed trails, ski rentals, and lake effect snow!
You will be amazed how quickly the ski centers competent instructors will have you gliding down the trail. In a weekend or two you can learn and master the basic skills necessary to have fun sliding on snow, both up and down hills. These ski centers also offer full rental gear in both classic and skate technique (Pineridge rentals are classic only), so all you need is a positive attitude and a willingness to try and learn something new.
